About McDuffie Digital Photography
"A picture is a poem without words..." - Horace
Susan McDuffie discovered her love of photography during her teen years. In
1994 she married Jeffery McDuffie and after the birth of their first child in
1998 she started getting "serious" with the camera. Her husband is
also very interested in photography and assists her as well. Three more children
followed in 2000, 2002 and 2004.

"I am adamant about getting several professional pictures a year with
each of my children. My love for specialty portraits found it hard to afford the
kind of pictures we enjoy the most, especially with four children. So I decided
to start taking their portraits myself. With much practicing and practicing and
practicing I eventually started to get the results I wanted. After a friend
helped me with studio lighting I was on my way!"
Her friends started to take notice and soon she was taking portraits of their
children as well. In the summer of 2004 at the urging of a close friend, Susan
took a hobby she was passionate about and McDuffie Digital Photography was born.
"I do all my work in digital format. Digital format gives me the
ability to be creative with photos such as the ones seen on this web site that
feature black and white images with some color added in. I want your images to
capture your children when they are most comfortable so that your portraits are
natural and don't appear forced with fake smiles. Your family dictates the
session with your personal needs. I will not rush you and there is no set
session length. I will also travel to your preferred location or welcome you and
your family to my studio."
Their work has been featured
three times on the cover of Carolina Country Magazine.
Jeff took the cover photo on the December 2000 issue of their oldest daughter
Jordan standing at their Christmas tree. Susan took the photograph featured on
the cover of the May 2005 issue of their son dressed as a lineman gazing up a
pole. Susan's work has also won honorable mention in the Randolph Community
College Foundation's 2005 Annual Photo Competition.
